Benitses
Benitses constitute, for many travellers, the reason for which they visit Corfu (Kerkyra). It is a cosmopolitan tourist resort with worldwide fame, where the biggest hotel units have their premises.
It is situated in the southern part of the village, in the municipality of Achillion.
Here, you can visit, first of all, Achillion, the palace built by the empress of Austria, Elisabeth (“Sissi”), in the village of Gastouri. Moreover, you can see the properties of the families Kapsokavvadis and Brentanos, where the relics of the Roman villa and baths were excavated, with mosaic floors. In the area, there is also the Shell/Marine Museum (1989), established by the diver and collector Napoleon Sagias, with shells, corals, sponges, fossils, shark jaws, etc.

It is near Corfy town and that’s why it’ s very famous. It has sand and small pebbles and is very well organized with docks, watersports facilities and boat renting. In the surrounding area there are restaurants, cafes, bars and hotels. It is said that in this pebble beach the German emperor Wilhelm II used to swim. Just before the village, you should visit the bridge built by him at the beginning of the 20th century.
