Messonghi

Messonghi is a busy fishing village and resort in southern Corfu, built along the beachfront and located near the village of Moraitika, 22 km from Corfu town. In its small port, boat are tied, fishing and tour, linking Messonghi to Syvota (Thesprotia, Epirus) and Paxos island. Characteristic of the settlement is the creek (small river) that crosses the settlement and splits it in two.

Here, do not forget to visit the long beach, an attraction for the lovers of swimming and water sports, with good tourist organization, providing bathers many options and comfort.

Starting from Messonghi, you can visit the neighbouring villages, as Chlomos, with narrow streets (alleyways, the so called “kantounia”) and excellent samples of traditional architecture, Chlomatiana with the church of Panaghia (Virgin Mary) and Aghios Dimitrios with breathtaking views.

A huge beach with pebbles, tourist facilities and the navigable Messongi river flowing into its water. From its port everyday there are boats for Sivota, Paxi and Antipaxi. It is one of the first developed resorts in Corfu.
