Paxi Island - Paxi holidays Greece

At only 7 n.m from Corfu and 12 n.m from the shores of Epirus is Paxi island, one of the most enchanting places not only in the Ionian Sea but also in Greece. Paxi and Antipaxi are two small islands covering 19 km2 and 3 km2 respectively, decorated with numerous olive grooves and vineyards, vegetated areas and countless paradise beaches with the most crystal clear water you have ever seen.

According to Greek Mythology Paxi was formed by Poseidon’s trident who cut a part of Corfu to live there his love with Amphitrite. That’s why the trident is the symbol of Paxi Greece.
In Paxi there are four major villages. The biggest is Gaios which is also the island’s capital and port. Other settlements are Loggos, near Gaios, and the most touristic Magazia and Laka.

Every village of Paxi island is very picturesque and despite the increasing tourism they preserve their picturesqueness and nobility. They worth visiting and seeing the way of life there. Every village has a special feeling that will charm you.
The few and very friendly inhabitants of the island, which are almost 2.500, are mostly occupied with cultivating olives and vines, fishing and tourism during the summer months. It’s known that Greek Paxi produces one of the best quality olive oil and wine. From the olive oil they also produce soap and shampoo.
