Zakynthos island, “Fior di Levante”, the flower of the East like the Venetians called it, is the third in bigger of the Ionian islands in magnitude and population. Countless picturesque beaches, impressive sea caves, fertile valleys and mountains under the sound of “cantades” compose the image of Zakynthos.

A paradise on earth, one of the last refuge of the rare Mediterranean specie of Caretta Caretta sea turtle, which for millions of year uses its south beaches as an egg-laying ground. At the southwest coast of the island we also meet the rare Monachus Monachus seal.

Zakynthos is famous for its mandolato and pasteli, traditional sweets, as well as for its unique Zakynthian fragrances: bougarini, fiorountenia and grantouka that you must taste during your Zakynthos holidays.

The island’s capital is the noble Zakynthos town, home of Dionisios Solomos, the national Greek poet, of the poet Kalvos and of the writer Xenopoulos. Zakynthos Greece had and continues to have an important culture.

The small and full of pines St Sostis island in Laganas is one of the most picturesque parts of the cosmopolitan bay. It was created in 1633 when an earthquake cut it of the shore. It was named after the church on it and is connected with the mainland via a wooden bridge.
