Aghia Efimia

Aghia Efimia, Aghia-Thymia as locals call it, is a beautiful village in the east of Kefalonia, that has developed into a popular destination. It constitutes a junction, yet a very picturesque port, across from Ithaca. Its small port is full of cutters and sailing ships, while its tourist infrastructure constantly improves.

Here, you can visit the white chapel of Aghia Efimia (Saint Efimia) that gave its name to the village. In the broader region you may see the small, traditional villages Makriotika, Potamianata, Diavarata, Drakopoulata and Ferentinata, as well as the monastery of “Theotokos Thematon”, up in Aghia Dynati.

If you want to go swimming you can choose first of all the famous Myrtos, an enchanting beach with wild beauty and totally blue clear waters, “the dreamy caress of the sea", one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean, quite frequented. Also, you can swim to the beach of Lithovatis, with white pebbles, in the port and the coastline to Sami where there are small beautiful beaches.
