Livathos

Livathos is one of the most beautiful regions of Kefalonia. A series of picturesque villages, built within olive groves, beautiful sandy beaches in combination with lowland and mountainous features of the island, compose a region of exceptional physiognomy and an attraction pole for many tourists.

Here, you can visit the picturesque villages nearby: Lakithra, built on the top of a hill with an enchanting view (it is said that this is where Lord Byron wrote “Don Juan”), Domata, Travliata, Sarlata, Minies, Kourkoumelata, Metaxata, Svoroniata, with houses of traditional architecture in a verdurous area with olives, orange trees, vineyards and thousands of flowers.

You can also visit the Venetian castle of Aghios Georgios (13th century) of great historical value, in the position of the medieval capital of the island, Travliata. Walls, underground passages, ruins of the house of the Venetian intendant, the barracks and the catholic temple of Saint Marcus are preserved.
