The picturesque port in Avlemonas has no similarity to any other big and organized beach. However the boulders and the rest of the scenery will tempt you to take a plunge (Loutro). An ideal place for children because there are facilities for dinning or enjoying a soda or same coffee. It is situated in the middle, east end of the island. There is a very easy access and the sea is almost always calm.

The most famous and, maybe, the best beach in the island. With its clear water and pebbles both the beach and the surrounding area will charm you. With east orientation, the beach is ideal when there is west or south winds. It has an easy access. One thing that might challenge you though are the 60 step that lead to the shore. You should came here prepared because it isn‘t organized. Nearby you may eat or have some coffee in Sandia or Avlemonas.

Komponada is one of the most harsh beaches of the island, but quiet, with big pebbles and very deep water. It is at the east side of Kithira. The beach has gained the EU Golden Starfish Award for its clean water and is one of the most picturesque beaches in the island.

Just before Avlemonas village and after Sandia, at your right hand side, there is the longest beach of the island. A very wide beach with eastern orientation, covered with sand, with a strong scent of thyme and other herbs and full with small Madonna lilies. The beach is composed by two beautiful sandbanks, Piatsa in the east and Limni in the west, and will remind you an island of the Aegean Sea. Just over Piatsa, on a low hill, there is a small cavity in the decayed rocks, Aphrodite’s bath, where it is believed that the Goddess of beauty and love bathed.
