Diakofti

Diakofti is a beautiful seaside village on the eastern side of the island, in one of the most beautiful sites of Kythira. Here it is, since the last years, the new port of the island, which is modern and protected from the winds. In the seaside taverns of the village, you can eat fresh fish and seafood, as well as taste traditional Greek dishes.

Diakofti is an ideal place for tours into the wild. Opposite the beach, you'll see the island Makrykythira, also known as “the island of writers”, which have been granted to the Company of Greek Writers. In the area of Diakofti, you can visit the Holy Monastery (Aghia Moni) (1840), one of the most important monasteries on the island, dedicated to the Saviour Jesus Christ and celebrated on August 6, with a traditional feast. The monastery is built on a hill and offers fantastic views across the village.

In Diakofti, you will swim in the homonymous beautiful beach (beach of Diakofti), considered as one of the best of Kythira, with its characteristic golden sand and shallow waters. It is the ideal choice for children and for those who are not good swimmers.
