Kapsali

Kapsali is a small tourist village situated around the natural port formed by the Venetian castle of Hora, at the south side of Kythira island. It is the benchmark for the entertainment and walks of tourists and locals during the summer. It is one of the most developed tourist areas of the island. Here you will find several rooms, hotels, restaurants, cafes and other tourist businesses, while at the beach, there is the opportunity for water sports. In addition, the port is available for private boat mooring.

Here, you can visit the monastery of Aghios Ioannis in place Egkremos, where according to tradition, Aghios Ioannis the Theologian, started writing the Apocalypse, before going on Patmos.

A double sandy beach (separated by a rock) in the port of Chora, the picturesque Kapsali. Both beaches have sand and pebbles. The first one is rocky while the second has many cafes and restaurants. These beaches are well known and although in summer they are highly frequented you will never feel crowded. They have wonderful blue water and are ideal for children. From there you may also see Avgo island.
