The tourist village of Lakka is on the north side of Paxos, built deep in a closed-sheltered bay, 8km from Gaios, the island’s capital. It is the closest port to Corfu and one of the three ports of the island. The dense vegetation reaches to the beach and in conjunction with the turquoise waters of the Ionian create dreamlike images. Lakka is the ideal destination for a relaxing and quiet holidays. Here, you can swim at the beaches Haramis and Monodendri. Also, it is worth visiting by boat the harbours Arkoudaki, Orko and Exolitharo. For lovers of water sports, in Lakka there is a sailing club. From the sights of the region, stands the lighthouse and the Byzantine church of the Ipapanti (Visitation, Hypapante), which dates from 1600. It has an impressive bell tower and a beautifully decorated templon (iconostasis). Starting from Lakka, you can visit Planos (by the way to the lighthouse), but also make trips to nearby locations in the quaint streets and paths. In addition, you can make an excursion by boat to the sea caves.

A small bay ideal for swimming and safe for children, in the village with the same name, the second bigger resort in the island. Nearby there are some extraordinary caves worth seeing. For water sports lovers there is a sailing club in Laka.
Papanikolis cave ( 1 Vote ) |
This was the place where the Greek sub “Papanikolis” hide during the Second World War. It worths visiting and you may get there by boat. It is said that this big cave, under Vasilatika village, is connected with church of Ipapanti.
It also worths touring around the island by boat and enjoying many of its wonderful beaches: Balos, St. Marina, Kloni-Gouli, Kamini, Kaki Laggada, Alati, Kipiadis, Marmaria, Glifada, Orkos, Kanoni, Xarami (sandy beach), Giana, Soulanena, Balou, Arkoudaki, Achai, Avlaki, Galazio, Exolitharo.
In Antipaxi you will find unique exotic beaches with turquoise water and the characteristic white, thick sand, most of which are accessed only by boat that you may find in Gaios. The voyage lasts almost 25 minutes.
